MUNISING -- Residents of Munising were awarded for their efforts toward a healthier lifestyle.  It was part of the "Let's Get Moving" challenge sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Sault Tribe Strategic Alliance for Health.

During an eight-week program, participants earned points for physical activities, nutrition and other healthy activities.

In a ceremony at the tribal health center, representatives from Blue Cross Blue Shield presented the City of Munising with a check for $1,250 for coming in third place out of six communities that participated.

"This is the second year for this program, and we have found that people are really motivated when they are competing on a team and they have buddies to walk with; that tends to be the secret ingredient that makes it all work," said Blue Cross Blue Shield representative, Susan Nelson.

Manistique and Sault Ste. Marie came in first and second place, respectively.

The funds from the challenge will go towards building Munising city tennis courts.
