MARQUETTE -- State Representative Steve Lindberg says he's no handy man, but he still likes to support a handy program in Marquette.

The legislator gave a helping hand to Habitat for Humanity Tuesday afternoon at 728 Union Street in Marquette.  At the start of his term, Lindberg pledged to spend time building for Habitat each summer with a Lansing program called Legislators Building Communities.

This is the third home Lindberg has proudly worked on with Habitat.

"This is a program where people get a hand up rather than a hand out; it is one of the greatest programs that I can think of, and believe me, there are a lot of good programs out there," said Lindberg.  "But this is one that I like to participate in every time I have a chance."

The four bedroom home Lindberg worked on will benefit the Desparois family, a young U.P. couple with three young children.
