MARQUETTE -- A Milwaukee man spent five dollars on a raffle ticket and wound up with a brand new car worth thousands.

Leonard Geiger was one of the last people to purchase a ticket from the non-profit organization, Room at the Inn, and it paid off big time, with Geiger picking up his brand new 2011 Chevy Cruze on Friday at Frei Chevrolet.

"You don't get a new car too often," said Geiger.  "Pretty impressive.  I'll be back next July 4th for sure!"

"We had seen the success that the Harley Davidson community had with raising funds for Bay Cliff Camp for doing the raffle, so we thought that a car for Room at the Inn would bring the same success and I think it did," said Room at the Inn Program Coordinator Robin Roy.

Room at the Inn, a seasonal shelter, started the raffle back in February to raise funds for the group.  The group netted nearly $12,000 with this raffle.

Organizers of the group say based on this success, other raffles may follow in the future.
