MARQUETTE -- After three years of work, the restoration of the original Graveraet Kaufman School Fountain in Marquette is officially complete.
Almost a hundred project supporters and alumni came out Friday for the official ribbon cutting by Marquette Area Public School Board members.
With a price tag of just over $160,000, the project is entirely community funded. The new fountain is a replica of the original 1927 fountain.
They actually didn't have any blueprints to use to construct the restoration, so they estimated measurements from old photos.
Alumni from all over the country came to see the dedication, organizers say they're the ones who made this project possible.
"They had the spirit and the pride all along throughout the three years they've been behind me," said Project Director, Sara Cambensy, "really pushing to get this done and bringing more people forward."
The project is just $7,000 short of being fully funded. Organizers hope to secure that money through future donations.
