MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- A Marquette man is jailed after an accident early Friday morning in Marquette County.

The Michigan State Police were called to the scene of an automobile crash at 2:30 a.m. on Morgan Meadows Road in Marquette Township.

A 2004 Volkswagen Bug, driven by an 18-year-old Marquette man, failed to negotiate a curve, left the road and hit several trees.  His two passengers, who were not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the car.  All three found their own transportation to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

After investigating the crash, troopers placed the driver under arrest for OWI.

The juvenile passengers were taken into custody for minor in possession of alcohol and later placed into the custody of their parents.

Speed and alcohol are cited as factors in the crash.

Names have not been released.
