MARQUETTE -- Marquette County is in bloom, and the Marquette Beautification and Restoration Committee is hosting its 18th annual Garden Tour to show it off.

The group will be showcasing nine local gardens in Marquette County from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

One special garden featured is Lorana Jinkerson's home, which is a garden...her so-called earth home.

Tickets are $10, and the Beautification Committee says they're worth every penny.

"This is our biggest fundraiser, and the money is used to help pay for the flowers on Front Street, the roundabout, and the welcome sign, as well as the watering system and the water and the weeding of the gardens," said Phyllis James of the Beautification Committee.

The organization needs all the help they can get since they alone keep those flowerbeds in Marquette looking beautiful.
