MARQUETTE -- Marquette percussion students are gearing up for another year of Percussive Attack Camp.
The camp runs next Monday through Friday in collaboration with the Marquette Area Public Schools' Community Enrichment programs.
Twenty students, ages teen to adult, will practice five hours a day before performing three concerts in Marquette. This year, the group will be featuring the percussion music of composer Eric Roth, who also composed a special piece called Lyceum just for the campers.
"I'm really into percussion, but I think a lot of people enjoy it because it is a release for them," said senior Shannon Whitehouse. "They get to play music and have fun, and it's really special this year because of Eric Roth coming; they get to play with a professional so that's a really unique experience, especially up here."
Concert Dates:
August 3, 7 p.m. - Reynolds Recital Hall, Northern Michigan University
August 4, noon - Graveraet School
August 5, noon - Kaufman Auditorium
