BARK RIVER -- A Wisconsin man is jailed in Delta County after a major accident that took place around 2 a.m. Friday in the Bark River area.
The Michigan State Police report that troopers clocked a vehicle traveling on US-2 near D Road at 85 miles an hour. When they pulled out in pursuit, the suspect vehicle veered off of the road, hit the curb, and became airborne. The car travelled about 40 feet through the air, hitting and sheering off a telephone pole. The vehicle continued west, hit a parked car, and then rammed into an abandoned building.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash. The building and pole sustained significant damage.
The driver was taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment and then transferred and incarcerated in the Delta County Jail.
His name is being withheld pending arraignment.
Speed, alcohol, and drugs are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
