MARQUETTE -- The Marquette County Administrator may be moving on after 15 years of service to the community.

This week, the Ann Arbor City Council passed a resolution asking Steve Powers to become Ann Arbor's new City Administrator.

Powers says he is confident he will complete an employment contract with the city and take the job.  He'll be the Chief Operating Officer of 650 employees of the City of Ann Arbor.

Although the city is more than 450 miles away from Marquette County, Powers says there are a lot of similarities.

"I'm humbled that Ann Arbor is offering me an opportunity to serve as the City Administrator," said Powers.  "I'm excited, I'm anxious, I'm also saddened by having to leave a great organization and a wonderful community."

Powers says he will honor a 60-day contractual notice of resignation with Marquette County.  He says he plans to assist with a smooth transition for the next administrator.
