MARQUETTE COUNTY -- In the last few days, the UPAWS animal shelter has received over three dozen animals in addition to its already full house.

The shelter is asking the community for their help in alleviating the sudden rush of unwanted pets.  They ask that if you are looking to give up your pet, call UPAWS well in advance so they can make accommodations or discuss alternative to help keep pets in their homes as long as possible.

Also, they are in need of volunteers and foster homes, even if only for a short time.

"We have so many wonderful tips and resources that we can help people, and in the event that we can't help people, at least then we can talk about their options and see if there might be a way around bringing the animal in," said UPAWS Manager Dayna Kennedy.

If you would like to adopt an animal, volunteer, or foster an animal, you can contact UPAWS at (906) 475-6661.
