ISHPEMING -- For the last five years, the Good News Assembly of God church in Ishpeming has been spreading good sportsmanship.
Their Mega Sports Camp kicked off Monday. The camp hosts just under 200 first through fifth graders, engaging them in six sports including football, basketball and soccer.
The program is coached by local high school and college athletes and instructors.
"It's an outreach to the community, just to build basic Christian values into the kids' minds and to just love on them and take care of them and teach them some things they can use. They're learning more than sports; they're learning life skills," said Children's Ministry Director, Tim Lutey.
The week-long program wraps up Friday, and all you have to do is stop by before 9 a.m. if your child wants to participate.
The cost is five dollars per child.
