MARQUETTE -- Some Marquette area community organizations are reaping the benefits of the 2010 Seafood Fest.
The Marquette West Rotary distributed over $20,000 to 25 organizations Wednesday afternoon. The awards ranged from $250 to $3,000, and will be used for several causes.
The grants were funded from the profits of last year's Seafood Fest, which official say was the most successful yet.
"We're very fortunate. The funds that we received today will support our livestrong program, our cancer survivor program, and also some funding for our kids gym. If you've been in the kids gym, you'll notice that the equipment is a little run down; we're hoping to get some new donuts and climbing pieces," said Lisa Coombs-Gerou of the Marquette County Y.
This year's Seafood Fest is scheduled for August 26 and 27.
Over the years, Seafood Fest has raised $500,000.
