CALUMET -- It's a game of guts, and you can watch it all unfold during the 54th annual International Frisbee Tournament this weekend.

Wednesday night, some of the local participants got in extra practice before the big event.

The Frisbees fly as fast as 80 miles an hour from just 15 feet away while the opposing team tries to prevent them from getting by.

The sport was started by the Healy family in Eagle River, but it's popularity has spread far.  This year there two teams traveling from Japan.

"It's just a good time," said player Bill Gagnon.  "People heckle a lot, there's a lot of arguing and that, but it's very entertaining.  Some of the shots you'll see are so hard, it's really amazing some of the catches you can make."

The tournament will run throughout the weekend at Agassiz Field in Calumet.  Admission is free, but organizers will be collecting donations for the Japanese Red Cross.
