MACKINAC COUNTY -- The Mackinac County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash on US-2.  It happened at approximately 1 p.m. Tuesday near Naubinway in Garfield Township.

Officials say a semi driven by 57-year-old Robert Perry of Manistique collided with a pickup truck near the top of the Lakes Rest Area.  The driver of the pickup truck, 59-year-old Cheryl Rae Coyer, was killed; Perry was taken to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.

Perry has been treated for his injuries and was released.

No other people were involved in the crash

The accident shut down US-2 to one lane of traffic for several hours.

The Mackinac County Sheriff's Office says alcohol and drug use by the drivers is not believed to be a factor.
