ISHPEMING -- A U.P.-produced film made its debut in Ishpeming Sunday. Brook Trout Productions hosted a viewing for their short film "The Ice Brigade" at Country Village Cinemas.
The 25-minute film was shot in Gwinn in February, and Sunday, the U.P. cast and crew were able to see the fruits of their labor.
Ice Brigade is a coming of age film about two groups of kids engaged in an epic battle over an ice fortress.
Producers and directors were proud to showcase the U.P. spirit throughout the film. There's even a cameo appearance by TV6 Meteorologist Karl Bohnak.
"We wanted to tie the local flavor in, and that's very important. Details are important, so it's very area specific; you know we mention names and you actually see the names of the towns in the U.P. on the screen," said the Film Director, Beau Chaput.
The film was recently entered into the Traverse City Film Festival, and producers expect to hear back at the start of July.
If the film is successful, they hope to produce a longer version of it in the future.
