BESSEMER -- Update 10:58 pm EST
31-year-old Dennis Hahn was emotionless Friday afternoon when the verdict was read to the court.
After two hours of deliberation the jury found Hahn guilty of first degree murder, first degree home invasion, and arson for the death of 54-year-old Joel McFarlane.
McFarlane was found dead from a shotgun wound in the neck after his mobile home burnt down on September 12, 2009.
Initially ruled a suicide the case was reopened several months later and Hahn was charged with murder.
Gogebic County Prosecutor Richard Adams said he had tears in his eyes when the verdict came back guilty.
"It's very, very satisfying when you know you're right and you can put a case together where a jury really believes it passes the threshold,” Adams said.
During closing arguments this morning defense attorney James McKenzie pointed out the lack of physical evidence in the case which he said didn't link his client to the murder.
"Dennis Hahn is not guilty of these charges, none of these charges,” McKenzie told the jury. “You are not being asked to find Dennis Hahn innocent. And there's a huge difference."
But the jury disagreed unanimously finding Hahn guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Hahn faces a mandatory life in prison sentence without parole.
No sentencing date has been set.
