The market is meant to be a sort of extension of the Farmer's Market
MARQUETTE -- If you love the Farmer's Market in downtown Marquette, you'll love the new Artist's Market in The Village Shopping Center on Third Street.
This is the first year for the Artist's Market, and organizers say it's a sort of extension of the Farmer's Market, although it's still privately funded. The event features a variety of local artists, including painters, wood carvers, and jewelry makers.
"The work here is unique to the U.P." said organizer, Theresa Marsh. "There's stones from the U.P, there's wood from the U.P. That's what our artists like to use, recycled items from the U.P. to incorporate into their work."
About 15-20 artists will be featured at the market, which will run every Saturday until October 1. If you're an artist and would like to become a vendor, contact Mango Lane Gallery in The Village Shopping Center at (906) 235-2064.
