Ford Airport gets jet service

The first flight left Friday morning

KINGSFORD -- It's been nearly 20 years in the making, and Friday morning, the first jet took off from Ford airport in Kingsford on its way to Detroit.

The 50 seat regional jet replaces the current 34 seat Saab on flights to Detroit.  The Saab aircraft will continue to be used on flights to Minneapolis.  Delta airlines will continue as the provider.

Iron mountain is on pace to surpass the 10,000 passenger mark this year.
