DELTA COUNTY -- The Delta County Airport has upgraded its morning aircraft service to a 50 seat jet, and this new service will mean increased passenger comfort.
The new jets replaced the former Saab 340s which seated only 32 passengers.
The jet stayed overnight in Iron Mountain Thursday night and flew into Escanaba Friday morning around 7 a.m. Over 40 passengers got their bags checked into the jet, which took off for Detroit.
Not only do the new jets offer more ticket opportunities, the bigger plane also offers more passenger room inside.
"Well, this is one step, and if we can get more jets and put more people on those jets, we'll have some really significant increase in our boardings," said Delta County Airport Manager Connie Ness. "And that should be very good for business."
Saab 340s will still be used for the afternoon flights, but the airport is hoping to get increased jet service in the future.
