MARQUETTE -- Things are looking up for the proposed skate plaza in Marquette.  In the last two weeks, they've gotten even closer to their goal of $150,000.

They received $20,000 each from AMCAB and the Reynolds Foundation.  The Youth Advisory Council also donated $17,500.  With those donations, plus thousands of dollars in smaller donations, the Skate Plaza Leadership Committee now has $65,000 in their pockets.

"This is all very exciting, because with those larger pledges, they will challenge others in the community to come forward and make this dream a reality," said Nheena Weyer Ittner of the committee.  "And it's going to happen."

The group also has other pending donations that they hope will get them to their goal.  If they raise $150,000 by the end of June, the City of Marquette will match the amount for $75,000.
