NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- It's the "Summer of Love" celebration at the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS).
June kicks off the celebration with Adopt a Shelter Cat month.
This month if you're looking for a furry feline friend, then you're in luck. All cat adoptions are 50 percent off. Not incentive enough? It also includes the spay and neuter and vaccinations.
"We have a lot of cats here, a lot of animals turned in. They didn't ask to be here. They're here from different circumstances," said UPAWS Community Relations person, Ann Brownell. "Maybe they were strays, moving, allergies, and they're all looking for homes and they all deserve loving homes."
All summer long, UPAWS will have different promotions to celebrate their sheltered animals.
