HANCOCK -- The Hancock City Police continue to investigate a fatal car accident on Sunday.

The incident took place at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, about a half mile north of the Hancock beach.  The driver and lone occupant in the vehicle, a 24-year-old Hancock man, lost control of his vehicle as he went around a curve.  The vehicle left the road, rolled over, hit a garage, and came to rest against a tree.

The driver was extricated from the machine and pronounced dead at the scene.

Assisting the Hancock Police were members of the Houghton City Police, Houghton County Sheriff's Department, Hancock Fire Department, Hurontown Fire and Rescue, Mercy Ambulance, and the assistant medical examiner.

The name of the driver is not being released at this time.  The accident remains under investigation by the Hancock City Police, with help from the Michigan State Police accident reconstructionist, Calumet Post.
