MARQUETTE -- The Ishpeming man accused in the beating death of a Negaunee man last month has entered a not guilty plea by mail.
Thirty-seven-year-old Thomas Arthur Hyttinen was scheduled to be arraigned in circuit court Friday, but due to the plea, that has been cancelled.
Hyttinen is charged with second degree murder. He allegedly assaulted Carl Wayne Mercer of Negaunee, causing his death.
Hyttinen remains in jail on a one million dollar cash bond.
