Driver escapes fiery crash

STANTON TOWNSHIP -- A driver in Houghton County made a lucky escape Thursday morning as their car caught fire after an accident.

According to the Houghton County Sheriff's Department, the crash happened around 2:40 a.m. on Obenhoff Road near Harma Road in Stanton Township.

The vehicle left the road, hit several trees and then caught fire.  The driver received minor injuries.

That person's name has not been released pending further investigation.
 
Alcohol and speed are considered contributing factors in the accident.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Stanton Township Fire Department.
