NEGAUNEE -- Children at Lakeview Elementary School proved Wednesday they know about their heritage.

The school's spring concert featured students performing stories about their ancestors who had faced adversity at some point in their lives.

The stories were selected by Mary Wright who manages the Story Line Project.  They're meant to compliment the premier of the Rockland Opera, which tells the story of the 1906 copper miners' strike.

"We wanted to just have people explore their own family ancestry," said Wright.  "Family is really important to me.  Their stories should not evaporate.  These children are going to know their stories."

If you'd like to participate in the Story Line Project, visit their website.
