GLADSTONE -- The St. Vincent de Paul facility in Gladstone has been serving the Delta County community for over 45 years and it will soon be expanding.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday afternoon. Officials posed with shovels as part of the St. Vincent's building capital fund drive.
The 7,400 square feet expansion includes a basement area and upper level. A building addition will be built on the grassy area between the building and the parking lot.
Officials were also presented with a $500 check from the Gladstone Lions.
"Oh, I'm very excited about this project," said District President Ray Maanika. "This is going to be a big boon to Gladstone, too, because they're going to have another major facility on their main street as far as drawing customers into town. Anyone that wants to come in can just drop off a donation to the Gladstone store."
Construction kicks off on May 16 and is expected to be completed in September.
