RAPID RIVER -- Rapid River high school students got a firsthand look at the real life dangers of driving drunk, complete with a simulation of a car crash.
The mock scenario was that Zach Anderson, president of the group Students Against Drunk Driving, was arrested after getting behind the wheel after having a few beers. On his way home from a graduation party, he killed two of his friends.
The simulation was aimed more for the graduating seniors, but Anderson said it's also a good lesson for the underclassmen who'll be driving in a few years.
"It's important to know about drunk driving because it may be fun at the time, but the consequences are very great," said Anderson. "I mean, it's terrible. I've learned that I will drive more safely."
Anderson also said he hoped the realistic scenario sticks with his fellow classmates, even after graduation.
