MARQUETTE -- Marquette's School Board is meeting Monday to discuss their budget. The district wants to cut $2.9 million from the next spending plan.
Over the weekend, the school board voted to hire Deborah Veiht as Marquette's new superintendent of schools. Veiht has been the interim superintendent since December.
The board is currently negotiating salary and benefits with Veiht.
A May 19 board meeting is planned for a final vote on the contract.
