MARQUETTE -- The 5th annual Blues for Life benefit has been set for this weekend.  The event will be held Saturday at the Lagniappe Cajun Creole eatery in Marquette.

The benefit will feature the Flat Broke Blues Band, Captain Woody Boogie and the Pirates of Groove from Houghton, and Fireside from Iron Mountain.

In addition to the music, Lagniappe will provide complimentary food, and local businesses have donated items for a silent auction and door prizes.

Organizers say money raised will benefit the local community.

"A lot of the money stays right here in our area to benefit some of the programs of the American Cancer Society...to help those who are going to their treatments or those who are continuing treatment for some reason, so it's a really great cause," said organizer Lorrie Hayes.

Price for admission is a $25 donation, and advance tickets can be purchased at the Lagniappe restaurant or the Screened Image.
