SAWYER -- There's a chance the Russian military plane that has been grounded at Sawyer for close to two years could be moved this summer.
According to Stephen Dunn, the attorney for Air Support Systems which owns the plane, there are a few factors they are waiting on.
First, the Federal Aviation Authority needs to remove the lien on the plane. It's possible that could happen sometime in May.
Then, Air Support Systems would like to move the plane within 90 days of that clearance. Where the plane would be taken has not been determined yet.
The 230 ton Ilyushin IL-78 cargo plane stopped at Sawyer International Airport in the summer of 2009 to refuel. Five crew members were arrested for expired visas, and the plane had been reported stolen.
That began the long saga of the aircraft.
