Tom Jayne will take over the position beginning July 1
IRON MOUNTAIN -- After an exhaustive search, a new superintendent has been named at Iron Mountain Public Schools.
The school board unanimously selected Tom Jayne Tuesday night during a special meeting.
He will take over the position July 1.
Jayne is currently the superintendent at Forest Park Schools in Crystal Falls and was one of 12 applicants to apply for the Iron Mountain position.
Afterwards the school board said they were confident they made the right choice.
“He has the experience that's necessary to lead this school district down the road,” said Iron Mountain School Board President Marvin Harry. “We're well aware that state funding is less and less each year, and we're going to have to collaborate with other school districts. He has a tremendous amount of experience along those lines.”
Jayne will take over for current Superintendent Scott McClure who is retiring in June.
