MARQUETTE -- The Alzheimer's Association held a day long conference for health care professionals and caregivers treating patients and loved ones with the disease.
The conference is designed to educate and inform those that care for persons with dementia, Alzheimer's or any serious illness through courses and guest speakers.
Speakers presented information on a variety of topics including "Care and Ethical Issues of Late Stage Dementia" by Dr. Peter Rabins from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
"Part of our job as family members, professionals, people who run long-term care facilities is to figure out for every individual, what can make their quality of life better and what can we do to maximize that, and it turns out there's a lot we can do to reach that goal," said Rabins.
Participants also attended several courses on topics such as nutrition, behaviors, and treatment for patients with Alzheimer's and dementia as well as talking to various health care vendors.
