David Bleau, Jr. and family get help from Marquette City employees and the USOEC
MARQUETTE -- Almost a month after David Bleau, Jr. lost his Humboldt Township home in a tragic fire, he and his family are still trying to get back on their feet. But as a beloved member of the Marquette community, Bleau is getting a lot of help.
Friends hosted a spaghetti feed for the family at the American Legion in Marquette Sunday afternoon. Bleau is the son of Marquette City Clerk David Bleau, Sr., so city employees poured into the event to show support. The USOEC wrestling team also helped out in the kitchen.
Bleau and his family were blown away by all of the generosity.
"It's shocking, but I think it can only happen in this community," said Bleau. "I don't know if it would happen anywhere else in the world."
With money from the event's meal tickets, silent auction, and bake sale, the family hopes to rebuild on their old Humboldt property or buy a home.
