MARQUETTE -- A record number of NMU students and faculty attended the 24th Annual Leadership Recognition Banquet.
Over 500 people dined at the banquet and listened to key note speaker Ben Schleek before presenting over 15 awards for organizations and programs campus wide.
The Student Finance Committee and the Northern Michigan Constructors were awarded 'Organizations of the Year,' while last month's Relay for Life, which raised $25,000 for cancer research, was awarded 'Project of the Year.'
Organizers say it's a great way to reward students who do so much for the campus.
"It's an opportunity to recognize the work that students do on campus, the programming that goes on for both the campus and the community, and then the special projects," said NMU Events Coordinator, Lizzie Corser.
The banquet was sponsored by the Center for Student Enrichment and NMU Dining Services.
