NORWAY -- Concern is being raised in Norway over additional traffic on US 8.

The highway is being used as a detour while the Menominee River bridge between Breitung Township and Niagara, Wisconsin is replaced.

Norway Speedway, Marion Park, and Oak Crest Golf Course are all on US 8, and officials are worried the additional traffic could cause problems especially with the 55 mph speed limit.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Department says they will provide an additional presence this summer in an effort to keep everyone safe.

"One thing that I'm afraid of is people have gotten so used to traveling that in the last couple of months, that they're going to be oblivious to their surroundings.  What we'd like to see is motorists slow down a little bit going through that area," said Dickinson County Sheriff, Scott Celello.

The US 8 detour will continue until the bridge is complete in November.
