MARQUETTE -- Visiting Milan, Italy is a lifetime dream for most designers.  Many consider it the design capital of the world.

NMU's Human Centered Design program was invited to showcase their work in the Italian city next week.  The 17 student class was invited to participate in the annual Salon Sateleet, a juried show for students and emerging home accessory designers.

Students will exhibit their prototypes to an international audience of media, manufacturers, and design professionals over a weeklong period.

"This is the most professional experience they could have as an undergraduate student, especially at a university like Northern Michigan University.  Students that exhibit there typically are coming from larger, private design colleges," said Art Professor, Peter Pliss.

About 400,000 visitors are expected to attend the exclusive exhibit in Milan.
