MARQUETTE -- Practice makes perfect.  That's how Marquette area figure skaters say they get ready to perform some pretty elaborate numbers in front of an audience.

"We've had practice almost every day this week," says Sydney Rehmann, one of the skaters.

On Saturday, 120 skaters, ages 4 to 21, will lace up their skates and show off their moves on the ice at the Berry Events Center in Marquette.

The theme is "one hit wonders."  You'll be grooving along to songs like "Video Killed the Radio Star" and "I Will Survive" while watching them jump, twirl, and glide on the ice.

"We are doing the song 'Pump Up the Volume'" says Kira Ingrham, "and we are basically rocking it out and doing cha cha and a whole bunch of stuff."

Saturday's program features both medley and solo performances.  The skaters say that the combination of great music, costumes, and routines are sure to keep you entertained.

"There's definitely a lot of waltz jumps in our program, there's quite a few pinwheels," Rehmann says of the show.

But Director Jamie Weigold says that the best part of the show is seeing the skaters smile.

"We're just really looking forward to having a great time," explains Weigold.  "The kids are always in a great mood and happy and smiling, and it's just fun."

What do the skaters do if they fall on the slippery ice?  Well, the show must go on.

"Just get back up and keep going like it never happened," Ingrham says.

Performances are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Berry Events Center in Marquette.  For ticket information, click here.
