Donation fund created for fire victim

PALMER -- Friends of the family that lost their home in Palmer on Saturday evening are trying to help them get back on their feet.

An account has been created for donations to the family.  The Patrick Walsh Fund has been set up at the Ishpeming Community Federal Credit Union for donations.

Firefighters are still on the scene of a house fire that started earlier Saturday evening.

The call came in around 6:15 p.m. for a structure fire at 108 Nicholas Avenue in Palmer.

Several agencies responded to the scene, including firefighters from Richmond and Negaunee Townships, the Marquette County Sheriff's Department, the Salvation Army, and the Pigs n' Heat fund.

Preliminary reports indicate that the structure is a total loss.

No word on any injuries or whether there was anyone inside at the time.

So no word yet on the cause of the fire.
