The fund-raiser at the cosmetology school benefitted 9-year-old Taylor Carlson
ISHPEMING -- The community of Ishpeming continues to raise funds for nine-year-old Taylor Carlson who is currently battling leukemia.
Saturday, girls in western Marquette County had the chance to be 'Princesses for a Day' at the Cosmetology School in Ishpeming.
About 35 little girls from ages four to twelve signed up to have their hair, makeup, and nails done by students at the school. They could also get their picture taken with a princess.
There were two packages available, one for $20 and one for $30.
The Student Council came up with the idea to benefit someone, and Taylor's name came up immediately.
"Taylor is such a sweet girl, and we're looking forward to having her come in, and so we're hoping that just like a girl like Taylor is having a problem with leukemia and we're trying to raise money for her, we're hoping that we can do that for another person in our community; you know if there's a family even, another girl or boy, we just think it would be a great opportunity," says student Alex Larson.
Saturday's fund-raiser was so successful, the school is already planning future events like this one.
