HOUGHTON COUNTY -- The South Range man accused of shooting a friend last summer has made a deal with the prosecution.
Thirty-seven-year-old William Thomas Andrews pled no contest to three felony charges including assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. In return for his plea, two additional charges, including assault with intent to murder, were dropped.
During Monday's hearing, the prosecutor talked about the victim who was shot during an early morning argument at the South Range ball park.
"Andrews, in speaking to Officer Destrampe and perhaps Officer Revoyr of the Michigan State Police, admitted to fully putting the gun on the targeted person and pulling the trigger," stated Houghton County Procecutor, Michael Makinen.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 4.
Andrews is facing up to 12 years in prison.
