NEGAUNEE -- The Upper Peninsula is deep into the winter months, and for a lot of people that means coming down with the flu.
Officials with the Marquette County Health Department say the flu season has reached its peak for the year.
This year has seen a more typical, mild flu season as compared with recent year's H1N1 strain. The 2010-2011 flu season is comparible to that of 2008-2009, according to Google Flu Trends.
Doctors say there is plenty of vaccine available, and it appears to be a good match with all three strains going around.
"I think the important thing is we believe that in Michigan and the U.P., we are now in our peak or very close to our peak, so if you haven't got your flu shot, I'd go get one," said Fred Benzie, Marquette County Health Officer.
There have been seven confirmed cases of influenza in the county, with six of those being reported last week.
If you would like to schedule a flu shot, you can call the Health Department at (906) 475-7844.
