The Community Action Agency still has slots available
ESCANABA -- The Community Action Agency in Escanaba is helping income-eligible residents save up to 20 percent in energy use by weatherizing their homes.
It's a three-year program that'll help residents minimize their home utility bills, but it's set to end in March 2012.
The Community Action Agency is encouraging residents who may need help to contact the agency.
Weatherization is offered at no cost and will include wall insulation, furnace, and water heater repairs.
The organization has 120 more slots available.
"It helps the homeowner reduce the energy consumption," says Joe Dehlin of the Community Action Agency. "It also helps us employ a lot of people in the area. We have, I believe, seven residential contractors that work for us. We go into the home, tighten it up a lot, and just make it more energy efficient," says Joe Dehlin.
So far this month, 264 units have been completed.
