There is also a summer session for the program
BIG BAY -- Women braved the cold outdoors this weekend at the DNRE's Becoming an Outdoor Woman Program.
This year's event had a record registration with 77 women in attendance.
Women participated in various sessions including outdoor cooking, geocaching, dogsledding, and building outdoor shelters. And there were some new classes this year, like perennial gardening and power tools.
Many of the women there return each year...and not just for the classes.
"I have made some wonderful friends here, I really have," says Donna Blasius of Lake Gogebic. "It's a wonderful growing experience for both learning how to be out here in the wilderness, as well as just making a new friend each time you come."
The Becoming an Outdoor Woman Program also has a summer session.
