For the first time, a Michigan appeals judge was sworn in, in the U.P.
MARQUETTE -- After serving as a district court judge for eight years in Lansing, Judge Amy RoNayne Krause was sworn in as judge for the Michigan Court of Appeals.
She was sworn in in Lansing Thursday, but she wanted to be sworn in in the U.P., too.
And while Krause may be from downstate, she says she has a special connection with the Marquette County Courthouse.
"The very first time I argued in the Court of Appeals was right here in this courtroom in Marquette as an assistant attorney general for the state, so the U.P. has a special place in my heart," says Krause.
Following the swearing in, a reception was held at the Landmark Inn.
