PERKINS -- After Dave Tryan and his two children lost their Delta County home and everything in it in a structural fire last week, they realized something they did have...a wonderful community of support.
Dave didn't know where he and his two children would live after their home was destroyed. To make matters worse, Dave is a single parent raising his kids on disability, but he got a phone call from a family friend offering them a place to stay.
The Tryan family was able to move in to a fully furnished trailer in Rock.
Friends and neighbors filled their closets, their kitchen shelves, they even stocked their bathroom with toiletries.
"We're at the lowest we've ever been in our life," said Tryan. "And the kids will tell you the same thing. It's an uplifting feeling that through it all, it still brings a little smile to your face to know that you're liked and cared about that much."
Insurance is covering the costs for a brand new house to be built on their property. They're hoping to move in by this summer.
People can donate to the Tryan family using an account set up at the Baybank in Rapid River. The address for the fund account is P.O. Box 157, Rapid River, MI 49878.
