Schoolcraft County voters shot down three millage proposals

MANISTIQUE -- Voters in Schoolcraft County have rejected the latest proposal to tear down their old jail and build a new one.  In fact, voters said no to three millage proposals.

First, voters were asked to approve 1.2 mills for 20 years to build a new jail.  This was defeated 605 yes to 1,280 no.

Next voters were asked to approve half a mill for 20 years to maintain the new jail.  This was also defeated 635 yes to 1,248 no.

Finally, voters were asked to approve .42 mills for the MSU Extension Service to continue in Schoolcraft County.  That was rejected 776 yes to 1,112 no.
