To deal with the long winters in the U.P., many of us take to the outdoors, doing any and all activities we can

POWELL TWP. -- One family's creativity--combining sledding and luging--makes for a pretty fun way to spend some time outside.

For the past three winters, the Vargo family of Powell Township has piled snow and iced down a track for them to slide down from their deck.  The deck is about eight feet off the ground.

Family members say it takes more than 20 hours each year to create the 100-foot-long track.  This year they added two more tools:  food coloring and spray paint.

Showing their support for their favorite team, they painted the snow slide green and yellow in preparation for Sunday night's game.

"This year with the Packers going to the Super Bowl, we decided to paint it green and gold and put the initials on there because we're all Packer fans," says homeowner Gary Vargo.

And they were rewarded with a victory.
