Wrote numerous checks from closed account

HOUGHTON -- A Houghton man, who allegedly wrote thousands of dollars in bad checks, was arraigned today.

Twenty-eight-year-old Timothy Pierner was charged with six counts of “check-no account,” a felony punishable by up to two years in prison.

Pierner is accused of writing checks of $400 or more from a closed bank account with Range Bank last November.

Pierner was released on a $500 personal recognizance bond.  He'll be back in court on February 18 for a preliminary exam.
