GRAND MARAIS -- Here's a quick update on the Readers Digest contest that Grand Marais is leading.

The lead for Grand Marais has shrunk to around 7,000 votes, and earlier in fact, Grand Marais briefly lost the lead to Fairbury, Illinois.

You can vote 10 times a day, and Grand Marais could use all the votes they can get to win this contest.

Noel McLaren will have an Up Close report on the competition from Grand Marais on TV6 News Tonight.

Grand Marais is holding its ground in the online battle to win the Readers Digest prize of $40,000.

Grand Marais, as of late Monday afternoon, was 14,000 votes ahead of Fairbury, Illinois.  Earlier, the gap had closed to 6,000 votes.

If Grand Marais wins the contest, which ends next Monday, it'll get $40,000 to help rebuild its breakwater.  Grand Marais will also get a story on its breakwater in Readers Digest.

If you want to help out Grand Marais, go to the website and click on Grand Marais, where you can vote 10 times per day by 'cheering'.
