MUNISING -- The annual Michigan Ice Festival is the third largest in the country, and it's fast approaching.

The festival will be held at Pictured Rocks in Munising, the weekend of February 4 through 6.

Ice climbers from all over come to the U.P. for the popular event.

Organizers say it's perfect for climbers that don't have a lot of experience.

"Folks can't go into a store, just buy gear and go climbing on their own to try it so this is a good opportunity at a very low cost to see if they want to get into the sport, or if they enjoy it," said Bill Thompson of Down Wind Sports.

Headquarters will be in the upper level of Sydney's Restaurant the weekend of the climb.

All you have to do is show up, and you'll be issued gear, as well as given a time to climb.

The $40 fee includes all equipment for the day you decide to climb, whether it's Saturday or Sunday.
